Gift of Joy
Greetings!
I cannot believe that this year is nearing its end and that means the season of giving is right around the corner! This month, we tied the almost-Christmas spirit with overseas mission.
With the help of materials from Samaritan Purse (our favorite organization), our students were introduced to a program called "Operation Christmas Child" via a few videos clips.
A few things they learned: the boxes filled with gifts are sent out to children in over 100 countries around the world. Typically, about 11 million of them are distributed! The video showed children from all over the world showing the exact same reaction to the gifts handed out to them no matter which country they are in: outburst of joy and excitement!!
One of the significant aspects of this program is in the fact that along with the gifts, small booklets outlining God's teaching are also handed out in many cases. Children see and feel the love of God in a tangible way, but the parents and the adult care givers also witness God's love first hand, resulting in many of them being led to Christ..... What an honor to be a part of such wonderful transformation in people's lives!
Our students particularly enjoyed the video about how to pack gifts. The young actor (maybe around 10 years old?) is SO funny and grabbed our kids' attention!
say cheese!!!

Then we got to work:
It was a lot of fun for everyone to pack all the gifts like soccer balls, notebooks, accessories, pens, soaps, toothbrushes and many more items while picturing a kid receiving it.
Everyone wrote a note in their boxes, introducing themselves and drawing pictures, etc.
say cheese!!!
Our students are such willing participants and we are proud of them for that!
Next month we are planning on going to a senior living home.
Until then!
