Hi KidsServe Family!

Welcome to our new blog site!
It was so great to see some familiar and new faces in our new group.
We are going to have another great year of learning and serving together!

Our October meeting was a good way to kick start our year as we learned about the "basics" of serving.
Together we learned about who we serve and how we should serve.
I think the students got the point when they were served chocolate on nice serving plates to learn how it feels to be served with a cheerful heart and with dedication.
We looked at how Jesus served his disciples by washing their feet, shown in John 13:4-5. What a wonderful example of a how to serve sacrificially.....


After that, we got to work!
First mission: Clean and organize the church nursery/preschool rooms.




Everyone was a willing participant and was very diligent about deep cleaning the toys. It was sweet to think that many of them have used the exact same toys just a few or couple of years ago as toddlers and preschoolers!




The students did an amazing job and we then got to our second project: make Christmas ornaments and candy canes for our December caroling.





We are very proud to have these kiddos who are so eager to learn and serve others with big smiles on their faces! We also feel very blessed to have our wonderful church Cedar Run Community church for whom we had the opportunity to serve.

We will have another fun gathering on November 1.

Dear KidsServe family, I am terribly sorry about this very very delayed posting of this message. I mean, March is almost over as I am writing this..! Here's the recap of what we did for this past March KidsServe meeting.... We got together at the local senior living center. The primary focus was to simply spend some time and hopefully build a relationship with the residents who are practically our neighbors!(2 min drive from church) We brought along some craft supplies as gifts for the residents. We have made -Heart shape string art on a canvas -Scratch off eggs -Decorated wooden fan -Pens with flowers For privacy reasons, we are not able to post pictures with residents'faces, but let me tell you, the whole room was filled with busy hands, attentive care of the senior residents, and lots of laughter! That is so juvenille....

Have you ever regretted wearing outfits without pockets? You know, not having a back pocket on your jeans or a cute pocket on your cute jacket.. Well, I DO. I still do regret not wearing an outfit with any pocket last Tuesday at KidsServe, as no pocket=no phone with me=no picture taken during the meeting.... sigh. So sorry folks, I have absolutely no photos for this meeting (gasp), and I know it is a travesty... but hey, at least I learned a lesson. (note to self) On KidsServe days, wear an outfit with at least one pocket! ahem. (repositioning myself) I do wish to inform you that we did have a phenomenal meeting as the kids learned about a rather mature content.. juvenile detention system. Special thanks to one most gracious and dedicated man of our church Mr. Kevin Kennedy. He was our inspiration in putting together this meeting as he brought wealth of information and shared with us his passion in sharing the love of Christ with the teenagers detained at a juvenile detention cente

Valentine gifts

As the shortest month of the year is quickly disappearing right in front of our eyes, I would like to recapture what we did a couple of weeks ago here at KidsServe. The theme of the month was "Giving without showing off" As someone who is in the position to teach children how to serve, it is my desire and prayer that the children will grow up serving with the right motives.  I hope the little skit I put together (please ask your kiddos) demonstrated how foolish it is to help someone out driven by the desire only to make him/herself look better, as the Bible says: Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others.
