That is so juvenille....
Have you ever regretted wearing outfits without pockets? You know, not having a back pocket on your jeans or a cute pocket on your cute jacket.. Well, I DO. I still do regret not wearing an outfit with any pocket last Tuesday at KidsServe, as no pocket=no phone with me=no picture taken during the meeting.... sigh.
So sorry folks, I have absolutely no photos for this meeting (gasp), and I know it is a travesty... but hey, at least I learned a lesson. (note to self) On KidsServe days, wear an outfit with at least one pocket!
ahem. (repositioning myself) I do wish to inform you that we did have a phenomenal meeting as the kids learned about a rather mature content.. juvenile detention system. Special thanks to one most gracious and dedicated man of our church Mr. Kevin Kennedy. He was our inspiration in putting together this meeting as he brought wealth of information and shared with us his passion in sharing the love of Christ with the teenagers detained at a juvenile detention center.
Kevin shared with us his ministry at the detention center and how they share the word of God through mentoring and church service. He provided a lesson from the Bible specifically from Mark 25:35-40, showing us how Jesus has directed us to love people and that one of the ways was to visit those in prisons. He stressed that such show of love leads to hope for those who may feel lost.
The students took an intense level of interest in what he had to say and had a lot of questions. Please ask your child(ren) what they learned.
We then got to work. Our mission of the day: To wrap Bibles and make cards & bookmarks to go with them.
The students were told that this mission is an extremely important one, as we believe that the Lord can change a course of one's life through a single book, the Bible.
We had all 48 Bibles to wrap, 48 bookmarks to color and laminate, 48 cards to be handwritten in the course of a 35 minutes, so as you can imagine, it was quite an intense 35 minutes. However, our students worked very hard and we were able to finish all 48 +of them!
Here is one bookmark that was made as extras and came home with us:
Our prayer is that the Lord will use the Bible, bookmark and the notecards to touch many young hearts in that detention center.
Here are a couple of photos Kevin took for us before the delivery was made:
